Ingredients

  • 01.

    Wah & soak daal for 30 mins.

  • 02.

    Cook the daal in pressure cooker with salt, turmeric, asafoetida & chopped ginger 1/2 tsp. cook it for 3 whistle on high & 2 whistle on low flame.

  • 03.

    For the 1st tempering - in a pan heat oil, add cumin seeds, chopped ginger, garlic & chilli. sauce them.

  • 04.

    Now add chopped onions & saute again.

  • 05.

    Add salt, turmeric, red chilli powder & stiffer a min. now add chopped tomatoes.

  • 06.

    Cover & cook for 5-7 mins till the tomatoes turn mushy.

  • 07.

    Add garam masala powder & chopped coriander. stir for a min.

  • 08.

    Add cooked daal & keep stirring till it boil. cover & cook it for 8-10 mins on low flame.

  • 09.

    Prepare the 2nd tempering - in a tadka pan heat ghee. add chopped garlic, whole dry red chilli, asafoetida & Kashmiri red chilli powder.

  • 10.

    Put the tempering on daal & stir well.

  • 11.

    Tadka Daal is ready to serve. Serve hot & enjoy with Roti/Chapati & Rice.

  • 12.

    *I made the recipe with 50-50 Toor dal & Cana daal. If you want to make it only with Toor daal/arhar daal, then take it 1 cup instead of 1/2 cup & all the rest recipe will be same.
